Is it bad to change flavors of dog food?

I bought Chewie a new flavor food, same brand...veal instead of chicken. He loves it but got sick. Maybe he ate too fast or is it because its a new flavor?Chat Icon

You may want to mix the two foods together, the old and new...then increase the amount of new food versus old food ratio, and so on until it's all new food.

We have none of the old left. I guess I'll buy some of the old.

Kathy is right, although I usually only do this if I am changing brands, not nec. flavors. I think your dog was psyched to have something different and probably ate too fast. But mixing them is a good idea just in case.

yeah i tried changing foods cold turkey once as well and it wasnt good.

now if i change foods i gradually change it.
first ill start off with 75% old food/25% new.
then a few days later 50%/50%..... then 25%/75% and then eventually all new food.

good luck! hope chewie is feeling better!
