I hope Caiden handles the baby coming ok...

I'm worried that Caiden is not going to be happy when the baby comes. He can't wait for the baby to come now, but when he realizes that he has to share mommy, I'm sure he's not going to like that. Any suggestions as to what I can do as the mommy to keep him feeling loved and not forgotten? Thanks!

I dont have any suggestions but it is just comforting to me that someone else feels the same way my son will be 2yrs 9 months when the baby comes and he understand thats shes in my belly and kisses it everynight but I dont know how he will act when she comes. are you letting Caiden go to the hospital to see the baby? this has been something im up in the air about.

Caiden will be 2 yrs 8 months when the baby comes.

My DH will be bringing Caiden to the hospital to see me. He's too much of a mommas boy to not see me! He'd be crying a lot at home! Chat Icon Chat Icon We actually brought him to the hospital tour a few weeks ago for him to see the hospital and the babies there. We talked to him about it the whole time we were there. Of course I don't know how much he got, but he loved seeing the babies! I'm also having a c-section so I can't go that long without seeing Caiden anyway. I have to see him everyday. It's going to be so upsetting to me that I'm not going to be there in the morning to bring him to school and put him to bed everynight as it is. I'll be in the hospital for 4 nights so for me it's going to be hard even though I'll be busy.

Sarah is 18 months, Andy is 2 months. TO be honest, she had a rough time. For the first week or so home she would walk as far away from me as possible to get around me in a room, she actually vomited when she saw me feeding Andy, wouldn't come near me even when I wasn't holding him. It was rough, I cried alot.

DH had off for 2 weeks when Andy was born, and the second week I had him hang out in our room all morning a few times so that we could get used to the 3 of us spending time together. It was good, she at least realized that she needed to be nice to me since Daddy wasn't around to help her. She would sit next to me on the couch while I fed the baby, and then I'd put him in the playpen to sleep and play with her.

She is so much better now. She gradually got used to him being here, and now when he cries she says "Shhh" to him or brings him toys to try to cheer him up. She is very interested in touching him and talking to him. She even laughed when he cooed at her the other night. Now only when she's tired does she get annoyed if I'm feeding him and not playing with her.

Good luck. It was rough in the beginning, but it definately gets better. Luckily they have short memories at this age. Chat Icon

ETA: Sarah was too young to understand what was happening, so it was a surprise to her when he came home even though for months I talked to her about the new baby.

ANd we didn't bring her to the hospital, when she was born my roommates kid refused to leave and her DH and son had to stay in the room with us. I didn't want to stress her out more than we needed to. She was content at home with my mom and DH. I don't think she even realized I left. Chat Icon

see same here im a sahm so there hasnt been a moment I havent been with him so Im so afraid he will be angry at me when he sees me in the hospital with the baby but i think I will be more hurt if I dont see him Im hoping to get out of the hospital asap. I want the minimum of days I left the hopital in 2 1/2 days after my csection with my son. I would do the hospital tour as well but i dont think he would understand that.
