Home Inspector
Has anyone used companies, "HouseMasters" or "HosueDetectives" for their home inspection?
If so, what was your experience?
If not, who do you recommend?

We used Housemasters on a friend's recommendation and they were terrible.
The inspector was very unknowledgable, and my FIL was actually teaching him about things. He didn't go on our roof at all.
3 months after we moved in, we had to replace half our roof due to a leak. My father noticed it the first day we moved in, yet the inspector didn't.
They have a guarantee, but its only for 3 months after the inspection at which point, we weren't even in the house yet!
I suggest going with a smaller company where you can get a recommendation from someone of a individual. Our friend's said that their guy was fine, but with a large company, you couldn't get the same guy.

We used an inspector who was a friend of FIL's coworker. He was great...cost $600 I believe and he's located in Queens. Nice guy. Very thorough inspection...more then 3 hours!
