Easter Food Traditions: What is your favorite?
I have to say that Pizza Rustica is my absolute favorite Easter tradition in my family. My mother makes them, but now that I am married, we make them together. For those of you that do not know, this is a pie made with a flaky, buttery crust, filled with ricotta cheese, hard boiled eggs, mozzarella and a variety of italian meats.

MMMMM EASTER BREAD AND GRAIN PIE!
I was bad, my grandmother always makes a ton of Easter bread and distributes it to the whole family so we can eat it on Easter morning, and we're not supposed to eat it before....but I just got home before with it and I couldn't help myself! I HAD to eat some of it!

ok i think I know what easter bread is that is the bread with the egg right? what is grain pie?

Actually, my grandmother doesn't make the kind with the egg. Hers is a huge dome shaped bread that is faintly sweet and has a sugared glaze on it. It's so good! I don't even know how to begin to describe grain pie. Maybe like a taste of heaven?

This sounds like babka. You can eat it all year round, but it really comes out around Easter time. I LOVE it!

My mom used to make a meat pie, but without boiled eggs, just eggs and meat and cheese in layers.
I'm actually not a fan of any easter food, I don't like the meat pie or the wheat pie, not a fan of the spaghettie pie on holy saturday (what is it with pies?)...
I like easter baskets!!
Oh and I do like the easter bread with the eggs in it. YUM

My favorite is kourobiethes(?spelling), they are greek buttery cookies with lots of powdered sugar, mmmmm, so good. I always tried to get the recipe from my grandma, but she never measures anything, because she eyeballs everything. I finally had to just go watch her and now I love making them. I'm gonna make them w/ my mom next week.
