What type of water do you use for mixing the formula?
Most recently, Ive been using bottled Poland Springs Water when making my daughter's bottle - but my sis just told me today that it doesn't contain flouride which is good for the baby.
She said that tap water (of course boiled) contains flouride and that bottled water for babies (which is sold in Babies R Us) contains it too.
Am i doing something wrong using Poland Springs water? Should I start boiling water for her?
Just curious what each of you use.

I mostly use Nursery Water. Every few weeks where I live the grocery stores have them on sale for $1, so I stock up. When I don't have any, I use boiled tap water.
I only use regular bottle water when I can't get to the nursery or boiled tap water.

Dont worry your ped. will give you a prescription for floride when the baby needs it. I was told that the tap water doesnt contain enough floride so dont worry too much.

I use boiled tap water. I boil up a kettle of it each night after she goes to bed and we use that the next day for her bottles.

I hope I don't get flamed for posting my professional opinion on fluoride water. I am opposed to nursery water if you give(or intend to give) fluoride in vitamins. As a dental hygienist I am seeing a really high rate of fluorosis-which is basically the teeth telling us that the body is getting "too much" fluoride. This gives off a chaulky appearance or white spotting on teeth. I believe in fluoride but there can be overkill. We get fluoride from other sources such as juices, teflon pans, milk, teas etc......Most of my professors and my colleagues are in agreement that fluoride is a good thing but needs to be used with caution. Something to think about...........BTW I am using boiled tap water for bottles

I use filtered water out of the fridge. I don't even warm it anymore.

Right on the money... (as per my ped)
I used Poland Spring because well, our tap water doesn't have fluoride anyway, but he did start vitamins/with fluoride around 6-7 months. When I asked about Nursery water prior to that my ped said he did not need it before 6 months. Then after, the vitamins provided a sufficient amount. Additional sources from water or toothpaste would be too much.
Of course if your water has fluoride then you don't need the fluoride in the vitamins. You can get just regular vitamins.

I am still torn on what type of water to use. Right now, I use boiled Brita water. I tried the Nursery water but it says on the bottle that it's NOT sterile, so I boiled that before I used it too.
Apparently, Poland Spring, etc... is not sterile either, I know people that boil that & use it, I also know people that use it straight from the bottle.
I wish I could get a straight answer on what's best!!!

I think I'm the most unsterile mother. I don't sterilize my bottles, I just wash them with hot soapy water and I don't boil water. I just use filtered water from the fridge. 6 months and going OK.

about unsterile mother.
We boiled water and sterilized bottles for a very short time, after that it was microwave for heating, dishwasher for washing, and filtered water here too.
I really just see this all as the media and doctors making us nuts with whats right and wrong. It seems to sound good when they ask you to spend money on everything, I think psychologically, consumers feel better if they have to purchase something more, spend more money, and youre def on track, and feeling like youre doing whats best, simply because you spent more money, kwim? Its sad, but I see it all too much.
and I also heard the same info about flouride, that it can be too much. They get it in their vitamins.
You know how they say, with the 2nd, 3rd, baby, the binky falls on the floor, and you let the dog lick it (to clean it off)
Life is too short to worry about these little things. These babies are more resilient than we think

You aren't the only one. Bottles become unsterile the second they pretty much come out, honestly. I only wash with hot soapy water and one every other week through them through the dishwasher.
I use straight tap water, not even filtered.

I was boiling water from the Brita...
used bottled while out of town, and now I use it straight from the Brita at room temp.
