Roman Catholic Church needed!

Does anyone know of a catholic church that would perform a ceremony to nonparishioners.

My cousin is supposed to get married May 20. He had his church for over a year and already sent out invites. The church calls him this morning and tells him they're remodeling so they can't marry them. His fiance is fuming. This was in the Bronx. She called every Catholic Church in the Bronx today and nothing.

His fiance is going to start calling all Churches in Nassau tomorrow because the reception is in Nassau.

I know May is a busy wedding month, as well as a communion and confirmation month, but does anyone know of any church who would be a little lenient?

Thanks

St. Hughs on NYA in Huntington? Close to Nassau. My grandparents were married there and I was christened there.

Hmm maybe try St. Frances in Wantagh. Im surprised the church left them hanging without any suggestions to other churches the diocese belongs to.

Yup... left them completely hanging. My cousin's fiance's mother went to the church to complain, and well, scream and there were already a couple of angry people waiting to voice their opinion as well. Thanks for the recommendation

Re: Roman Catholic Church needed!

you could try St Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead...I am no longer a parishioner, but I grew up there and they were going to do my convalidation and my daughter is being christened there at the end of march...

they never asked if I was a parishioner...

Sorry to hear this, I hope it works out for them!
Try this one:
St Thomas the Apostle
24 Westminster Rd
West Hempstead, NY
My friend got married there and wasn't a parishioner.

St Agnes Catherdral is the head Diocese in Nassau. I would call and explain the situation to them since they are in charge of the churches under them. They should allow them to marry there and it's a lovely church!!

I was married in a church in Whitestone Queens which is on the boarder the Queens and the Bronx and close to Nassau. If you cant find anything, send me an FM. We are Catholic but not parishoners of that church (we had to pay a little extra to get married there). Its worth a shot to give them a call.

btw - we got married there because the church is nicer than the one we are "zoned" to (its a few blocks from where we live)

I was married at a church I'm not a parishiner of, but it was out in Cutchogue. Actually, all three churches we checked with were willing to marry us (St. Lawrence in Sayville, St. Rosa Di Lima in Massapequa, Our Lady of Ostrabrama in Cutchogue.) I don't think this will be as big of an issue as you think it may be. Good Luck!

Did they call Fordham's chapel? I know there was a waiting list when I was in college but you never know. Most people (other than those who went to college) probably woudlnt' think about it.

It's gorgeous - built in the 1800's (and renovated). Great place for pictures - except for the drunk students of course. If it's mid-late may , you'd only have seniors there.

they probably wouldn't. I got married there in May 2002 and they are so booked with weddings and communions. Plus I moved in with DH before the wedding and they gave me the hardest time about not being a parishioner anymore (I moved out of RVC). I had to fight them to keep my wedding date!

What about the Historical Chapel in Woodbury? Its not a Catholic Church, but its worth a shot, as is the chapel at C.W. Post.
