telling work Im not coming back- I dont know what to do
Im on maternity leave now for about 5.5 weeks and according to my company they think Im coming back on the sept 6th- but Im not- Im quitting but I feel bad becuase they all are my friends and they have been emailing me saying how they miss me and everything- my boss emailed me today and asked how I was and that she missed me- I want to tell her that I need to talk with her- should I write that in the email- also is it unprofessional to bring the baby in for everyone to see and also let my boss know then that Im resigning at the same time? help?

Thats exactly what I did, I kinda felt guilty about it but then when it was all said and done I needed to do what was right for my baby and myself. Dont worry

I did the same thing. I went in about my 8th week of the 12 weeks I was taking, and told them I've decided to stay at home. I essentially did it at that point so they would have some notice. I went in with my baby, there was no other way to do it. It all went fine.

This happened to me, and they couldnt have been happier for me. I was supposed to return July 11th, and let them know 2 weeks before that I was not coming back.
Everyone had been calling and emailing, telling me they missed me and couldnt wait for my return. All along I knew I wasnt returning.
I just called and asked when the boss would be in because I "had to talk to her about something"
So needless to say, she knew just from that phone message. When I came in she said "I have a feeling I am not going to like what you have to say" I was crying, my boss started crying and so were the other people in the office... It really wasnt that bad and everyone was telling me that they were so happy I was able to be at home with the baby.
SO in my opinion, I would bring the baby in.. ask one of your co-workers to watch, while you have a chat with the boss.

When you do that, do you still keep your leave pay? Or do you have to give it back? thanks

no I get to keep it- I work for a very large corporation but we only get disability pay- the company doesnt pay us- I asked anonymously the hr dept what would happen- they said I wouldnt have to give it back
