Cleaning Person?
Anyone have one and if you dont mind sharing how much they are and how often do you use them...
DH and I work soooo much and have no time and now with the summer approaching we have yard work and all sorts of things going on - I was thinking maybe of hiring one..
What do you think???

Re: Cleaning Person?
We use a cleaning person - sooo worth it. she charges us $60 per week (she comes every other week) for a pretty large town home but we have known her for a long time, and she doesnt clean that thoroughly. We will probably find someone new once we move, but we sill definitely get someone. it is so worth it - it will free up hours of your time. even if you just get one every other week, it makes a big difference.

Re: Cleaning Person?
Can I ask, for those who do have one, are you there when they come in? Unless it was someone I knew, I think I'd feel weird just letting them let themselves in, but I also think I would feel really weird being there.

Re: Cleaning Person?
We are not home when the cleaning lady comes. I wouldnt feel weird being there when she is there but i am also pretty trusting and would give someone a key while i am not home. I would just be sure to keep all valuables locked up and out of sight.

Re: Cleaning Person?
She has a key. She was recommended by a close friend. We were there the first few times then felt comfortable enough to give her a key. It's not like I have any thing of real value!
She's been doing this for 2 years now. Good decision.

Re: Cleaning Person?
My cleaning lady charges me 80 bucks every other week (it would have been 70 for every week). I own a wide line cape and they do all 4 bedrooms, LR, DR, 2 bathrooms and kitchen.
They will do anything i ask them to. Including changing the bed sheets, doing the towels, bringing you wash downstairs (i didn't want this), clean out your fridge, vacuum, mop the kitchen floor, dust, garbage, etc.
The only part of the house i don't have them do is the basement...except i asked them to do it at Christmas time and they did.
I am not at home when they come...i leave a key for them and trust them very much.
They are looking for more work in Nassau County or Queens so if anyone wants a recommendation FM me and i can send you their info.
ETA - the first time they came (2 of them) they do an total job and move everything to dust. Now they take no more then 2 hours.

Re: Cleaning Person?
I "got" my cleaning lady from craigslist about a year ago. I've had quite a few and definitely am happiest with the girl I have now. She comes once a week. We have a multi-level (5) split. She cleans all 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living/kitchen/dining/den and the basement too, where I have my office. She charges me $60/week. SOmetimes she brings a friend, sometimes no - but same $ every time, just that she gets done faster.
She is also looking for additional work - fm if you want her #.
ETA - she strips the king sized bed and washes the sheets and towels - then makes up the bed before she leaves (only one set of flannel sheets right now, lol). I am home when she comes but if we are away or I have to go out, I leave her a key.
