Diaper Rash?

Emily has a little rash on her bottom. It isn't like normal diaper rash that I've seen though, it actually looks almost like little spots where maybe her skin was irritated from the wipes or something. I was using pampers wipes and I think they were just too rough on her. So now I'm using huggies and they are much softer, but I noticed the rash was bleeding a tiny bit in one spot and I just feel so bad.

I switched over to the Butt Paste stuff to see if that will help and we are going to the pediatritian for her 3 week check-up tomorrow so I'll show it to the doctor, but do any of you have an idea of what I can do for it? She doesn't seem uncomfortable from it but I just feel so bad.

it soudns like you are doing the right thing, just change her frequently and keep it protected with the paste. I'm sure the Dr. will say the same thing tomorrow.

I used the Pampers sensitive wipes for a while in the beginning, but they actaully told me at the hopsital that a moist baby cloth was best.

Re: Diaper Rash?

Mallory had a problem similar to that..I had to stop using baby wipes (even hypo-allergenic ones) and just use cotton balls and water for a little bit, she had a sensitive bottomChat Icon

Re: Diaper Rash?

We went to the pediatritian today and she recommended that we don't use wipes at all! She said to just use a warm wash cloth instead!

She also prescribed Nystatin cream because she said it looks like it might be turning into a fungal infection.

She said once it clears up not to use desitin, balmex, butt paste -- nothing! She said in newborns the fragrance in them is usually too much of an irritant and she just doesn't need anything.
