HCG Trigger

Can someone explain this to me. I know what it is "sort of"

My RE told me since they are closed xmas that she wanted to give me a trigger shot to make me ovulate if my follicles were large enough on cd15. I usually O on cd15-18.

Does this sound right? I'm a bit confused..

It's a shot that they give to insure as to the time you are going to ovulate. They give you the shot ( or you can give it to yourself) and you come back the next day for your IUI. It's really a painless shot. They gave me mine in the fatty part of my upper arm. The next day, the spot was a little tender to touch but no other pain.

If your follies are 18mm or above, they can give you the shot. They waited one extra day for me because they wanted to see if one more matured before I surged.

Piece of advise, get the prescription filled by the pharmacy they tell you. It can be difficult to find in other pharmacies. If you go to the Stonybrook office, the pharmacy is in the same complex.

thanks for the info..I wasn't even told about a prescription or anything. Just told to come in on the 21st for an u/s & b/w to see where I was at....I guess (although who knows) they're tell me more when I'm there...

or I'll ask..

They will see where you are at on the 21st. At that point, they will start talking about when you will have your trigger. You can wait up til the 23rd and go from there. How many follies did you have today?

The HCG shot forces you to ovulate. You go in the next day for your IUI. They did mine in my upper arm too - on CD14.
