LIRR...Service Question
I overheard someone say there is a fire somewhere in LI? Not sure if it's true but they said service would be delayed on LIRR...nothing on their site right now. Anyone heard anything?

My DH just called me to check online (he's on the road all day). He's in Bay Shore said there seems to be a big fire nearby. I can't see anything on any news website

I just saw a huge fire on my way home going down Commack Rd. Looked like it was close to the Deer Park train station.

I just saw the smoke on the Southern State from Nassau into Suffolk, just when it seemed to get closer, it was farther away.
I have no idea where this fire is???? Babylon/Deer Park area seems bout right.
I've been looking online too and I find Nada!

Here's the report from Channel 12 News...
04/20/06) DEER PARK – Multiple fire departments are at the scene of two separate brush fire in Deer Park and Brentwood, near the Deer Park train station.
A total of six fire departments are responding to the scene. Most of the fire is located in Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve. According to those at the scene, the flames came in close proximity to railroad tracks in the area. A number of power lines are also located near the fire.
Witnesses are reporting massive amounts of smoke blanketing nearby neighborhoods. News 12 Long Island’s Bill Korbel reports the smoke is visible on weather radar.

Breaking News
Six fire departments are battling a brush fire on Nichols and Commack roads near the Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve. Three fire departments are also battling a second brush fire in Brentwood on Long Island and Executive avenues. Stay with News 12 Long Island and News12.com for more on this developing story.

Due to a brush fire adjacent to the Deer Park Station and damage it caused to the LIRR signal system, train service east of Farmingdale has been temporarily suspended.
We advise customers to use alternative LIRR train service on the Montauk and Port Jefferson Branches
