Not starting a drama thread but...

Whern you say "good neighborhood" what are your referring to? The area? the crime rate??

I honestly think things happen EVERYWHERE!!!
My moms friend lives in a really nice area in NJ near PA small town everyone knows each other the whole nine yards but her house was broken in to TWICE luckily she wasnt home both times but still.

I think you can be mugged on a street in the best area just as easily as you can in a so- so area it all depends on who is out that night looking to rob, attack etc... someone...

Honestly, I most often base an area on its school district.

School district, test scores, percentage of students going to college...This is what we look at the most since we're picking a house where we will raise kids.

Crime would be a factor, though there is crime everywhere. Some areas definitely have more crime.

A good area to me is a middle class to upper class neighborhood known to have an amazing school district and known to have few crimes ( I know crimes can happen anywhere and I know there are alot of lower class neighboorhoods that are nice too)

But In general, thats what I think.

i agree with the above... good school district, crime rate, and also the appearence of the homes/neighborhood.

i totally agree.

But (and like the original poster, i really don't mean this to cause controversy) I *do* think that alot of people Say an area is 'bad', etc... without knowing Anything at all about the school districts or anything else. Obviously they couldnt have known the school reports for all different towns, and, to be honest, in those situations, i really think that theyre just basing it on the make-up of the area Chat Icon

I generally judge good and bad areas based on the condition of the houses, if it's a residential or industrial area, and how well it's taken care of.
