This has probably been done before but how did u get engaged...

Where u surprised?? Or did u know it was coming?? How long did u date...

We dated for 4 yrs. We spoke about it often around the time we got engaged. That night when DH picked me up,I kinda knew. He re-enacted our first date by taking me to Vincents clam bar in carle place. But... he threw me off bc he bought me back to my old apt. ( i was really confused to why we were going there) he took me out of the car and proposed to me in the place where we had our first kiss

we were dating 1 yr 4 months when we got engaged. We had gone to my grandmas to look at her ring and DH was to decide if he wanted it. He ended up proposing that night, in the car, while we were sitting at the docks in Sayville killing time till we headed to Friendly's for ice cream with some friends

We were dating for 1.5 years, but had been friends for over 10. I knew it was coming that year, but I thought it would be closer to the end of the year. He hid the ring in a copy of "Gone With The Wind" my favorite book. I just threw it on the coffee table because I was late getting to my mom's house, and he got all weird insisting it was a special edition with new stuff inside. Then I found the ring.

He had planned to propose in the gem room of the museum of natural history. He'd arragned with them to put the ring in the display, but my mom had thrown her back out and I was taking care of her so I had to cancel and he had to scramble to find a new way.

We were dating for a year. DH surprised me with a trip to Portland, Oregon. A little background...while we dating he always told me that he loved the Oregon Coast, Cannon Beach to be specific. He told me that if he did propose one day, it would be there.

So, it was labor day weekend and all he told me for weeks was that he had a surprise trip planned that weekend. I thought it would be to Florida (because my folks lived there at the time) to see my parents. I did not find out until we walked up to the terinal that we were going to Oregon. I was shocked. I kinda thought...what if, but I did not want to get my hopes up. After the flight landed, we rented a car and went up to the coast. He had the ring in his guitar case and we walked along cannon beach at sunset and sat on a rock. He started to play a song that he wrote me and asked me to marry him in the song. Then we checked in to the hotel on the beach, and in the room there were a dozen roses and champange. Plus, he booked a really nice restaurant for dinner. We spend two nights at the coast and two nights in the city of Portland.
That day/weekend along with my wedding day/honeymoon were the two best days of my life. BTW...I am tearing up as I write this, pregnancy hormones I guess.

We were dating for about 4 1/2 years. I def had an idea it was coming, b/c I found a reciept lol!
We went to Mexico in May of 2001 with 2 other couples and he proposed the 1st night on the beach. My friends knew it was happening and had their camera ready and came over as he was doing it, so I have an amazing picture of it happening, I love how I will always have that moment in the picture.

I had nooo idea it was coming, I was going through a long drawn out divorce at the time and he always said that he didn't want to get married... but he planned a big thing at the beach (where we first met) with our family and friends there.. it was amazing! There was supposed to be skywriting but there was a thunderstorm and they couldn't do it and he said he couldn't wait! We even have pictures which is really special!

Awww...I love your pics!!

Dh and spent the day pumpkin picking....when we got home...we decided to crave our pumpkins...He made it like a seceret contest, to see who could carve better, so we couldnt peek...

When we turned ours around to see..his said Marry ME??

The only thing is...my ring was locked away in his parents safe and when he went to put it in the pumpkin...he couldnt get into it...

He tried to play it off as if the marry me was a joke....but I knew something was up...The next day I got breakfast in bed...with a formal purposal...and my ring!

Danielle and I dated for 9 months b4 I asked her.....

We had gone on a vacation with our friends to Florida, and when we came back I bought the ring.....I planned to do it at A Park near my house - there is a Lake in the middle with a fountain and a gazeebo...I wanted to see if she wanted to go walking, and then sit down on the bench near the gazeebo. When she sat, I was going to get down on one knee....

Well plans changed. I woke up that morning, August 9th, 2003 and it was pouring out. So instead of putting it off for another day....My mom and I came up with a good idea.

I went out and bought 2 dozen roses. We cleaned my living room upstairs in my apartment, and then put out candles all over - rose petals and the floor, couches and other furniture.....I put on a black suit, and got down on one knee.

Danielle came to the house, my dad opened the door and told her to go upstairs. She opened the door to find me wearing a suit on one knee in my living room, and Sarah McGlauklin's I love you playing in the backound( Which was our wedding song)

She came in and I proposed to her.....

We had talked about it for a long time b4 I asked her.....

I knew it was coming just didnt know when. We dated FOREVER! I think 6 or 7 years when we got engaged. we started dating when I was 14 and we had no car. So we use to walk everywhere. We walked to a park by my house and thats where he asked me out. We got engaged at the same park. My ring was attached to one of the stems of a dozen roses. It was my 21st birthday!

I got engaged August 15, 1998 after dating dh for 3 and 1/2 years.
He came over with dinner (LOL Wendy's). Before he got there, I cut my finger and was trying to "clean it up". He came in sat down and was like "come on Im starving".."Thats nice hun..ummm, Im bleeding, I'll be right there'!
I walk over and he hands me my bag. I open it and see a pink velvet box, sitting on top of my dinner! It took a few OMG's before I could get the Yes out!

Well, I knew we were going to get engaged some time soon, but I didn't know it was coming when it did. JT had been at work, and I was home wrapping Christmas presents. He was never late coming home, but I started to really worry when he was two hours late and never called. I figured he was out buying presents, so I just continued getting ready for our trip home for Christmas (we lived in Boston at the time). Well, he came home about three hours late, and was swinging a little bag in his hand, and I knew. I was in my pjs on the bed, and he took the ring out, got down on one knee and proposed I just laughed HYSTERICALLY for almost five minutes before I said yes.
But my FAVORITE part of the story is why he was late coming home from work....

Apparently, he felt bad that he never asked my father if he could marry me, so guilt took over and he called my dad in NY. Well, my dad wasn't home, so JT tried his cell. He got a hold of my dad, said, "I just wanted to ask you a question." So he went ahead and asked my dad if he could marry me, and my dad hung up! Ok, my dad didn't hang up, but JT THOUGHT he hung up because after he asked him, the phone was dead. It took him two hours to get the courage to call my dad back. My dad answered and was like, "Oh, the call got dropped, I figured it wasn't important or else you would have called back!" So when JT asked my dad, my father almost died laughing

We were dating 3 years. He took me to Hendrickson's Park behind Valley Stream Central. We used to go to that park all the time to run together, rollerblade, and just go for walks. That night we drive past and he says...let's go for a walk. Meanwhile, it was thundering and lightning. We walked out to the bridge in the middle of the park and he bent down in the puddle and asked me to marry him.

Total surprise...we went to Key West for the second time and when we went to Mallory Square for the sunset, he handed some stranger our camera to take a cheesy sunset photo and when I turned around he was on one knee, in front of hundreds of people, asking me to marry him. I didn't say yes until ten minutes later cuz people were congratulating us!
