Those with Shih tzu's

anyone have problems with the nose's? With the nostrils being too closed?

The Vet said Overall even though Abby is a mixed breed( half lhasa apso) she is a good healthy pup for a mixed breed, except her nostrils are very pinched, one more so then the other .

I read in the book I have this is common and it may open up as she grows more.

The vet said down the line if it doesnt open up she may need surgery to open them. Which again is common.

Im just curious if anyone had this issue with theirs?

I don't have a Shih Tzu, but my Pug had this problem when he was a pup. It opened in its own.

My mothers Shih tzu was like that - he outgrew it cause he is fine now.
Just when he gets very excited - he has a little bit of a problem breathing, it is cause he gets excited, but that is the only time

Emmie had this. It would be difficult for her to breath. She pretty much grew out of it (she's almost 5), but sometimes she still gets what we call "episodes" where it is hard for her to get her breath, which leads to kind of like an asthma attack. The vet said it was all because of the nostrils being so tiny, sometimes she can't get enough air.

Gizzy's nostrils are normal. I don't remember them ever being small... but he is a mixed breed also.
