who drinks diet soda??
is it ok to drink diet sierra mist or diet sprite or diet caffiene free pepsi/coke???
I have been hearing a lot of opinions lets hear some more
I know caffeine isnt good while preggers but what about the nutrasweet controversy???

I am a huge diet coke drinker and never had it until I developed Gestational Diabetes. My Dr and my nutritionist said it was ok to have nutrasweet while I was in my 3rd trimester. I was allowed to eat light yogart with nutrasweet and I was allowed to drink caffeine free diet coke.
If it is made with Splenda, your ok. I think Pepsi One is ok to drink

I used to drink a lot of diet coke. Now I only occassinaly take a sip of Dh's. I know people who drank it and were fine and have healthy children, but I am worried. But that's just my own paranoia. Asperteme has been linked to autoimmune diseases in adults and splenda is so new- For me it was an easy sacrafice to stay away from- but to still have occassionally.

I feel the same way. Even though the Ob said I can have stuff with Splenda, I am a little scared.

Aspartame is the ingredient in Nutrasweet. My OB didn't really SAY to stay away from it, but he said "it's just another chemical, and you really need to decide whether or not you want to take it in". I took that as a no.
Splenda, although new, is made from the sugar molecule, and it does not pass through the placental barrier, so it is considered safe.
I drink Pepsi One, because it is made with the Splenda. I don't usually have more than 3 glasses a day, as that is what contains about 150mg of caffeine. My doc said I could have one cup of regular coffee a day (which contains about 150mg of caffeine). Since I don't drink coffee, I use this one substitution.

that's what my doc says, I believe moderation is the key, except for certain things, like raw fish for example, I do still drink diet caffiene free soda but not nearly as much as I used to, I've added more water and juices
