Question about beer

How much beer comes in a case? I'm having a party with about 50-60 people, how much beer should I buy then?

I'm totally clueless...I'm not a beer drinker...Chat Icon

Re: Question about beer

I think a case is an 18 pack. Are these people big beer drinkers or not really?

ETA - I just saw Lisa's post - I guess I am clueless about beer too! Chat Icon

Re: Question about beer

If your having that many people, I would look into renting a keg. It might actually be cheaper.

Re: Question about beer

Yes, some of them are. Do you think there's anything else I should buy?

Re: Question about beer

It depends. Are you having more of a casual bbq? If so I would stick to the beer. Maybe get a few bottles of wine for the people who dont' drink beer.

If they are pretty big beer drinkers than I would get about 4 cases- and worst case scenario if you run out someone can go get more.

Re: Question about beer

Yes, it's a casual BBQ at Eisenhower Park. I guess wine would be a great idea.

Re: Question about beer

24 beers in a case.

I would probably purchase 5 cases and some bottles of wine.

Re: Question about beer

I would get about 5 cases of beer and then some packs of Mike's Hard Lemonade or Mike's Hard Iced Tea, etc. for the non-beer drinkers.

Re: Question about beer

You can find a case on sale anywhere from 13-18 dollars I think.

Are you allowed to serve alcohol at Eisenhower park? We have a school picnic there and we have to tell parents no alcohol.

I have to buy an alcohol permit at field 8 in Eisenhower park.

Depends on the type of beer. Is your DH or friends picky? Mine is. We usually get some assorted packs for our summer bbqs (at BJs or Costco), but if they aren't picky you can get away with Bud, Bud Light, etc and spend less.

Re: Question about beer

Nope...I don't think so...but what do most people drink? My dh doesn't drink beer, he's a girlie drinker...he likes mixed drinks...or the Mike's Hard...

Re: Question about beer

For that many people I would look into kegs or beer balls - a regular beer & light beer. (Bud & coors lite, bud light or mich ultra) then maybe a couple of cases of other beers like heinekin, sam adams, yeungling, corona, etc. (pardon the spelling)

But then most of my friends are beer drinkers - we could knock out a couple of cases with a much smaller guest list on a long hot day - so I have a tendency to go overboard.

Re: Question about beer

You can't get kegs or beer balls for the park.

I would get some Light beer - Coors Light or Bud Light. Then I would get Sam Adams or Yeungling.

Re: Question about beer

I would do a few cases of beer...maybe 3 (not everyone drinks) and two boxes of wine (I know, not the best, but it works for big crowds). If anyone else wants something, they can bring it themselves Chat Icon

Re: Question about beer

I would do a few cases too. There is a 7-11 not too far away if you need to send someone on a beer run.
