Re: How did everyone learn how to crochet???

I always tried to learn from a book but had trouble- it is easiest if you can get someone to show you the basics, then learn the rest from books. This is what I did.

If you go to Michael's most of the pattern books have illustrations inside and explain each stitch.

Re: How did everyone learn how to crochet???

my grandmother taught me when I was very little. When I picked it up again (in my 20's) my favorite books were the one from Vanna White (yep, the Wheel of Fortune chick). She has 3 books that are all fantastic!

I learned to knit and crochet using one of those "...for Dummies" books. It was either Knitting and Crocheting for Dummies or the Complete Idiots Guide to Knitting and Crocheting. My MIL is also a phenomenal knitter, so I got some extra help there too.

My mom and grandma taught me basic stitches like single and double. Every other stitch I learned from books or www.stitchguide.com

I bought the book "knitting for dummies" and also I used this website...it has video's to show you. It helped clarify what the illustrations in the book were telling me to do...

Re: How did everyone learn how to crochet???

A friend's mom taught me.

I can only do a few basic stitches though. Basically I can only do a single stitch, double, triple and basic granny square.

I alwyas say I am going to go to AC Moore. THey have a lady there during certain days/times and she'll help you through a project if you bring it with you.
