She goes to the groomer for a bath and a brushing (I can't keep up with her knots) every month, sometimes month and a half.
With my old dog whose hair didn't mat (because she shed like crazy) I gave her a bath myself and that was like every two months.

ETA: I Cottenelle her feet every couple of days or so.

I was doing it every 2 but its a little much and her skin was getting dry, so I do it every 3. Piper has very short hair, single coat. In between baths I use this stuff called 'Buddy Spray'; it helps keep her skin conditioned (esp. with indoor heat in the winter that dries it out) and really leaves her smelling good for awhile. I proly spray in on her her and brush it through once a week.

We bathe Ebony a few times a year..bathing him too often dries out his skin and makes him uncomfortable.

How often should I bathe my dog?


The simplest answer to this question is, whenever he needs it. Dogs who spend the most of their time indoors will not need much bathing, while dogs who are outside a lot, romping in the mud and trees (and possibly other smelly things) will need to be bathed more often. Also, some dogs' coats will accumulate grease and oil more quickly than others. Breeds prone to oily skin and other skin conditions, such as Cocker Spaniels, benefit from regular bathing about every four weeks. Breeds with a thick, double coat, like huskies and chows, only need bathing about 3 or 4 times a year. Washing a dog with an undercoat more often than this can make the coat softer and less waterproof and insulating.

In general, you can use your common sense to judge when your dog needs bathing. If you're concerned about causing dry skin, there are moisturizing treatments available at most pet stores, which you rub into your dog's skin after you shampoo him. If your dog seems uncomfortable or shows signs of skin problems, consult your veterinarian.

Rocky has hair, not fur. So it gets greasy like human hair.

He uses Zodiac shampoo. It has coconut extract, lanolin, and aloe. In addition to killing fleas, ticks, and lice, and repelling gnats, flies, and mosquitoes for two to three days, the shampoo removes loose dandruff, dirt, and scales. Leaves coat soft, shining and helps prevent mats and tangles.

Depends if we take her to the dog park. We usually go once a week, and she NEEDS a bath after, for some reason she always winds up on her back with dogs on top of her! So when she gets home she is filthy!!

It really varies. Much more often in the summer. They go to the groomer every 6 weeks.

Once a week unless she gets really dirty. She doesn't have dry skin and LOVES baths.

The chihuahua - every other week. He is low to the ground & gets really dirty.
The Pug I clean his face & wrinkles every other day & he gets a bath once a month.

The Shiba Inu & Ainu dogs get a bath every 2 months.

every month he is professionally groomed (haircut, bath, etc)

i use the bath spray and a brush other times to keep him smelling nice.

if he is in the backyard and is muddy, i'll throw him in the tub.

Very rarely. It's just not necessary. If he gets really really dirty, then we'll give him a bath. But otherwise, I'll just wipe him down occasionally with pet wipes.

Once a month.

Only when he gets dirty.
His feet and butt are wiped down often though

He is groomed once every 1 1/2 - 2 months.

It varies a lot. Average is probably every 3 wks. I sometimes sponge him down in between. I check his ears every 2-3 days and clean his ears a lot because I hate when dogs have yucky ears.
