Interesting fact from my pregnancy journal...

Yesterday's entry (which is a little over 19 weeks) said this:

"If your baby is a girl, primitive egg cells are now within the ovaries. Baby girls are born with all the eggs they will ever have in their ovaries. By the time she is ready to have a family of her own, your daughter's eggs will be as old as she is."

That's just so amazing to me that an infant girl has all her eggs already when she's born. I never knew that!
So my crusty old eggs are 35 years old Chat Icon

Yup... they say that when women are babies, they have the most eggs that they will during their entire lives.

Yep isn't that wild? I told DH that our little girl has all her eggs right now that will let her have our grandchildren. It's so strange!

Makes me wonder why people start eating healthy & stopped smoking the month they got pregnant...those eggs have been there for a long time....

If you think about it - your baby comes from an egg that is old ad you, you come from an egg as old as your mother when she was pregnant, your mother comes from an egg as old as your grandmother when she was pregnant with your mother, etc....

Kind of neat.

Nah, my crusty old 33 year old & 35 year old eggs produced some pretty cute kids...I think my 20 something year old eggs were the ugly kids.Chat Icon
