Wedding gift question
DH is in the wedding party of a friend from elementary school. They are still very close. We didn't have a wedding party so he was not in our's (no hotel stay either). Anyway, his friend gave us $300 as a gift. We'd like to give the same but money's tight and we're already paying $150 for the tux and $150 for the hotel (it's in Westchester-brunch the next day). Would it be acceptable to give $200? I know-give what you can afford but I just want to make sure . I feel bad giving less than he gave us. Thanks!

Re: Wedding gift question
I think that is perfectly reasonable. You can go broke being in a wedding, so don't feel bad.

Re: Wedding gift question
I know I am in the minority and I know people will call me cheap, but I would have expected someone in my bridal party to give me less as a gift, since being in the wedding cost them money.
I say if $200 is all you guys can swing, it should be fine. If he is a good friend, he will understand.

Not to mention....he didn't have to spend money on yours....and your DH does on his......so I'm sure they aren't expecting you too.
I think $200 is fine and the fact that he's paying for the tux and being part of their day...they'll understand

Re: Wedding gift question
I always gave more when I was in a bridal party.
I'd go with the $300 that he gave you.

Re: Wedding gift question
I've always given more when I was in the bridal party...then again, I've only been in bridal parties of family members....I'd say if it's doable give the $300..

Re: Wedding gift question
Also, I'd give the $300 because if you don't, you'll always wonder whether or not they were offended.
