Home Depot has some nice, inexpensive area rugs. We got ours, which covers most of the living room, for about $300!

We are ordering one for our living room, 7X10, for about $350 at home depot. The same rug is about $100-$200 more at all of the online "discount" stores.

KAS carpet on Rockaway Blvd in Rosedale I believe. They have a really great selection for really really cheap. Last year we bought an oriental rug for like $20 and the quality is great!
