Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

Actually a friend of mine asked me to be a surrogate mother for his child. I wanted to do it, but DH said no. I think it's really easier said than done.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

I'm having enough trouble making my own...but if I was able to help someone else out who is going through the same kinds of troubles I've been going through, I think I would.

As somone who is pregnant now-I could never be a surrogate parent for a stranger. Maybe for someone like my sister- but definitely not for a stranger.

not for a stranger, no. to be honest, I don't know if I'd do either for anyone.

Right now, the only thing holding us back from having a family is my fear of giving birth. Chat Icon

I don't know if I would be a surrogate for anyone. I really didn't enjoy being pregnant. I would consider egg donation if the circumstances were right.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

I have never been pregnant, but I think I could definitely carry my sisters' child. I think I would also donate an egg once I am done having babies. I would not want to mess anything up.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

I wanted to add I couldnt do it because I want all my own chidlren, I couldnt carry a baby and then give it away and well I dont have the best eggs, BUT I have the utmost respect for any women who does it as an unselfish act. I think its AMAZING.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

I didn't vote, because to me it isn't just simple as a Yes or No...

Don't think I would donate my eggs ever... but I would be a surrogate, for either my best friend or my brother, with no hasitation.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

for a stranger no. You have to be a certain kind of woman to do that.
my friends are awaiting the birth of their daughter via surrogate. She's due in April.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

I don't think that I would be able to handle either choice emotionally but think those who can are wondeful for giving people an opportunity of a lifetime

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

My sister had a problem maintaining her pregnancies many years back. I offered to carry her child only if the egg was hers and not mine. Id always feel an attachment but Id have felt better if the eggs were hers. Mind you she eventually had a son and all was well.

There is no way in the world i would do either even for a family member. I always am very impressed with woman who do this, but for me emotionally i could not do it.

Re: Egg donation or surrogacy?

Could never donate my eggs...I just don't think I would be comfortable knowing that a biological child of mine might be out there somewhere for a lot of reasons.

As for surrogacy, in theory I might do it for a sister or sister in law, but since they all have children already and I don't, it wouldn't happen.

I don't think I could ever be a surrogate for anyone.

However I would be able to donate eggs.
