I DID IT!!! I blew out my hair with just a brush and a dryer!!!

I've tried EVERYTHING to make my hair straight!
flat iron
Maxi-glide (which is awesome!)
blow dryer with comb/brush attachment
sleeping with giant velcro rollers (can we say neck crick?)

But I did 2 things that made a HUGE difference. I used a round metal brush (I know, I know, metal = bad! but I'll get ceramic if I keep at it!) and I grabbed hair more towards the scalp and pulled it down. Ohmygoodness, I now have a Farrah flip!!! I am soooo proud of myself. Ladies with curly hair, you'll undestand the enormousness of this achievement. Everyone else will continue to think I'm crazy, but this is a big day in my household!!! Totally understand!! I've been blowing mine straight for years now. I do it every day and after a while it got easier, I guess because I did it sooo much, it got used to it. But now, it is pin straight when I dry it. Yay for you!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I DO understand!

And side note- Is the Maxi glide really worth the hype?

The Maxiglide is great, but if you have a method that is working, then no. To me, it was almost a last resort and I won't get rid of mine, but at the same time, I know I won't use it as often as I originially thought I would.

Completely understand the need to tame curly hair...CongratulationsChat Icon Chat Icon

How long did it take you? I bought the Revo (my first infomercial purchase)...I have to say that it works pretty well.

I had a Revo and returned it. I think it took me about 2-25 minutes. And I kept it on low air, high heat, I think, so I'm sure it would have taken less time with higher air. I only want to do it maybe 2-3 times per week, not everyday. I don't wash it every day and I wear it up and down, so if it is a bit dirty, I wear it up.

Congrats!! I finally learned how to control my wavy hair too. I totally understand how hard it is to get it to look right!

I also blow my hair out every day and use a round metal brush. Someone metioned that metal is bad? How come? What's good about ceramic, do they work better? Advice please.

TIA

I totally understand.

In FL during rainy season straight hair for me does not even become a style. The minute I walk outside or one drop of water touches my hair poof instant curl.

When I do straighten my hair I use a blow dryer and straighter at the same time. It's a little difficult at first but I've seem to have gotten the hang of it.

Congrats!!!! When I do straighten it takes me about 45 min. That is down from the first few times where it ttok me over an hour!!! I think at some point I need to get a good hairdryer. Right now I use a cheap Revlon model.

I definitely know your feeling...
My hair is naturally curly but I blow it out all the time. It used to take me about 45 minutes to an hour. It was good because I used to have the best of both worlds....if I wash it and don't dry it, it will be curly...blow my hair out and it will be straight. I always wear my hair straight unless I'm too tired to blow it out.
I also bought the Revo and only used it a few times.
I also have a ceramic flat iron and it works pretty good but didn't really cut on the time.
I went and got the Japanese Straightening....and sooo glad that I did. It now takes 10 minutes to blow my hair and it always look good, shiny...and best of all..straight with not much work.....and in the Summer no matter how humid and hot was, my hair looked great.
I absolutely recommend this to anyone who has curly hair and always blow their hair out to make it straight.....you save soooo much time and your hair always look Great!
