For those whose babies eat whatever you eat, how are you serving the food? For example, if you are having chinese food (as one poster mentioned) are you cutting it up into small pieces and letting the baby self feed or do you mash it up/cut it up and feed them with a spoon?

With meat and most veggies, I cut it up and he feeds himself. He uses a spoon for stuff that will stick to it like oatmeal, mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. With soups and rice, I feed him bc he his coordination with the spoon isn't great yet.

I cut up into small pieces and let her feed herself.

She really doesn't like stuff lately that require me to feed her with a spoon. She ends up flinging it all over the kitchen. So small pieces that allow her to be independent work best with us!

Once Kevin started table food - we always cut it up small enough (whatever he could handle and the way he could handle it) and let him self feed. Messy but he much preferred to feed himself. Even baby food and yogurt and stuff became self fed around that time as well. He was really good with a spoon around a year or so and shortly after mastered the fork.

Cut it up and he feeds himself...

Usually with his hands- but he is almost always given a utensil....

On occasion- if he is giving me hard time about eating- I feed him- or at least try...

We always cut and give him a fork or spoon. He was always good with eating with utensils. And his hands. Chat Icon

I just cut everything up and let her self feed. Like today we met DH for lunch and he and I shared fajitas so I cut up chicken for her and I spoon fed her rice and guacamole.
