What kind of chocolate do you all use?

I find that I get a whitish haze on the chocolate after it hardens. It doesn't affect the taste or anything just the presentation.
I thought I read somewhere that some chocolate will do this.

last time I used metled choco chips, I've also melted down Ghirardelli Bars.

The Wilton (?) melting disks and almond bark do not taste good to me.

any suggestions?

Thanks! Chat Icon

Add a pat of butter to the chocolate as it melts. It gives it a sheen. Maybe 1 tablespoon for a bag of chips.

I always use the Ghiradelli bars and they never turn white. Maybe you are overheating the chocolate. If you use a double broiler, it should appear not quite melted, take it off and stir until it all melts.

I go to a candy-making store and get their chocolate. I have never had a problem.

see i've done that, take it off before but then its too thick to dip the pretzels Chat Icon

but you are right, I think I then overheat it so that it is thinner... maybe adding the butter like the pp mentioned will help

Thanks!
