Re: Food Ideas
My baby is only 4 months old, but I can tell you what we did with my niece and nephew. They got Cheerios and those Gerber puffs first. Toast was always a big hit as well as pancakes. You can probably start with carrots and green beans cut up. How about little pieces of cheese, or diced up chicken or meatballs? Pizza crust is always fun for them to chew on. Macaroni and cheese, or pasta with some tomato sauce. A baked or sweet potato cut up or just kind of fork mashed into pieces. I think as long as you go slow in the beginning to be sure DC really has the hang of chewing it should be fine. Once they understand what to do, almost anything goes as long as it is cut up small enough.
I hope some of this helps.

Re: Food Ideas
we started with puffs...breaking them in half then halved cheerios
then green beans, the gerber graduate diced fruits and veggies are very soft, but it kills me to pay that much for something I can do myself!
pieces of banana are great-messy! Mango doesn't need to be cooked nor does avacado. Pasta well cooked (I prefer cutting up pieces of ziti or penne versus spaghetti) --I started it plain then gave it to her with tomato sauce. She LOVES spaghetti & meatballs.
