Sleeping in bassinet
Jordana hates to sleep in her bassinet, especially during the day. She will sleep in my arms, but once i put her in the basinet, she wakes up after 10 minutes. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions?

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
Have you tried swaddling her? Maybe she needs to be tightly wrapped so she can feel secure.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
The only place Andrew napped when he was that young was in his swing.... But he did sleep in his bassinet at night.

Welcome to my world, except she is almost 5 months and still only sleeps more then 10 minutes in my arms.
Swaddling did help a lot when she was that little though.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
we have the same problem, but he seems to be getting a little better as he gets older. swadling helps a little bit and during the day i sometimes put him down in the swing when he falls asleep because i know if i put him down anywhere else he will be wide awake again. i hold him a lot and also use my baby bjorn so i can get things done during the day. night time is another story. when i really need to get some sleep i just sleep with him in bed with me.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
I swadle her, but it doesn't seem to help too much. I think I will get the "Swaddle Me". Maybe I am not doing a good job of swaddling her.
Thanks for your advice and comments. Its nice to know I am not alone.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
I think we've all gone through this. Honestly its just a stage that I think most (not all) babies go through. Definitely try swaddling. She was snug and tight in your belly, hearing your heartbeat, and nice and warm. To a newborn the world is quite overwhelming and it is just comforting to be held close and warm, especially by their mother who they already recognize. Cherish these times as frustrating as it may be because before you go blink they are so squirmy and don't want to cuddle.

Jake hated the bassinet. We had him sleeping in the carseat & the swing for the first month.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
Definitely get the swaddle me as it helped us out alot to get her sleeping soundly. Sofia did sleep with us mostly for the 1st 2 mos in our bed and sometimes in her bassinet. Once she hit 2 mos exact we put her in her crib all swaddled and she sleeps great. I agree that it is a stage babies go thru in the beginning coz I used to have to hold her till she fell asleep for the 1st month and a half.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
At that age the only place that Emily would sleep was her bouncer -- with the vibrations on! Man we went through a lot of batteries.
Every child is different but we did go through a process of trying to find where she'd sleep. First we tried the crib, then the carseat, then the swing (when it went off at 2 hrs she woke up) and finally the bouncer got us the best results.
You just have to find what she'll like the best.
Good luck!

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
I have the same problem. My little guy will sleep for 10 minutes in his bassinet and then he is wide awake. He sleeps a lot in his car seat that I have attached to the stroller and I just push him around with me from room to room to get things done. I am hoping he will outgrow this as well!

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
Alyson was the same way....I'd be lucky to get her to sleep 30 min in the bassinett. Have you tried letting her nap on your bed?
Alyson actually prefers a mattress to the thin pad that was in her bassinett

I just posted this exact post a few days ago. I was having a hard time getting Peyton to sleep in anything other than her car seat / stroller. I did the three day rule and surprisingly it worked. I put her in the crib and swaddled her tightly....it was kind of annoying because her binky kept falling out and I had to keep going into put it back but the last few nights she's slept in her crib. She didn't sleep as many hours as she did in the stroller, however, it's a start.

Re: Sleeping in bassinet
I would def try swaddling her as tight as can be and make her feel very secure; I used the sleep positioner wedges to snugle DS inbetween as well. Doing both these prevented him from moving much and he slept better. Does your bassinett have "vibration"? That was a life saver too.

Same here, at almst 4 months old Noah will only nap in my arms. On the plus side, I have fantastic shoulder muscles! He will nap in the pram when we are out and about, but no naps in the crib.
Because of this, I try to time his naps with something that I want to watch on TV, so I let him nap in the afternoon while I watch Oprah, its a win-win situation!

I have a feeling that every new mom has encountered this predicament! I can tell you we definitely did! The only thing that worked in the beginning was to swaddle, or use the swing. Eventually Alex decided she wasn't having ANY of that and the only way to get her to sleep in her crib was to rock her until she was in a deeeeeeeeeep sleep and then put her down. Good luck!
