NJ girls ....suggestions
My DH and I are considering moving. Right now we live in Dunellen (Middlesex / Somerset border). We LOVE our house but the neighborhood is not all we expected. We've been there 2 years.
Any suggestions re: where in NJ you would recommend? We both work in central / northern NJ and are willing to commute about 45min - 1 hr. My DH loves being near the water.

Come to Springfield! I know it's pretty close to Dunellen but it would be a good commute for your husband's job. And a very good commute for your job now! The house prices are decent and it's a cute town.

Re: NJ girls ....suggestions
we are in new providence...
when we were house hunting we looked in summit, chatham, madison, berkeley heights, new providence and westfield.
i drive to work (eastbound around the meadowlands), with traffic it's 40-45 minutes, without 35.
DH takes the train to NYC. it takes him 1 1/2 hours because he has to switch either at hoboken or take a subway from penn downtown. we wanted to make sure we had a midtown direct option as well as a downtown in case jobs change along the way...

I am in Bergen county....but that might be too far north for you since your jobs are in central jersey.

My Brother and SIL lived in Denville (Bergen) for a while and moved to West Milford (nothern passaic) 2 years ago. They LOVED Denville, but the homes were too expensive for them at the time. Some great areas in Bergen are Randolph, Denville, Mountain Lakes and Franklin Lakes. My SIL's parents are going to be selling their house in Mountain Lakes in a few months and moving to Florida. I will post when they are ready to sell.

We just moved to Bedminster, NJ in Somerst co. and it is really beautiful out here. When we were looking we looked at Summit, Chatham, Basking Ridge, Westfield, Montville, Morristown, Sctoch Plains and Livingston.

Denville is in Morris County, not Bergen. But...it's a really nice area, my old boss used to live there.

What are you looking for in a town? or what don't you like about Dunellen.
well, dunellen borders plainfield...and i feel like plainfield is "creeping" into dunellen.. i know the town was trying to make it more like westfield, cute and preppy but it just seems like they are renting out stores to anyone to make a buck. all i see are crappy stores going up...or empty storefronts..i am not crazy about the school district either. it's ok but it is VERY small.
AND NO ONE TALKS TO US!
Well, our next door neighbors do...but they are elderly..i dont know, both my DH and I grew up in very friendly neighborhoods...and around here everyone really keeps to themselves. I guess we feel like we dont really fit in.
