Blood results are in ....
My Dr.'s office just called to let me know that I need to get a shot for the measles that I am not immune to it. Then I have to wait 3 long months before I can TTC. I wonder what would have happened if I waited to get PG before going for blood work. Has anyone ever come accross this?
Af is due to come soon and I am feeling no signs of it. I am going to take a test to confirm that I am not PG and then make an appointment for the shot... OHHHH how I hate shots....

I had this shot last fall. If you get pregnant before the shot, you will be fine as long as you are not exposed to the disease during pregnancy. If there is any question that you might be pregnant, do not get the shot. If you are sure you're not pregnant you can get the shot, but follow their advice of waiting to TTC.

Re: Blood results are in ....
are you talking about the rubella vaccine? Waiting the 3 months is precautionary, but not necessary.
My RE suggested waiting a month. But it turned out I got pregnant within days of getting the vaccine (we "thought" it was a anovulatory cycle, already on day 62...)
The baby is developing normally, and after MUCH MUCH research, it turns out that there have never been any proven cases of the vaccine being harmful to the fetus. They suggest a waiting period because exposure to the vaccine VIRUS in early pregnancy can cause lots of problems, but the vaccine does not have the live virus in it.

Re: Blood results are in ....
I was pregnant with my first when my bloodwork came back that I was not immune to Rubella (geman measles). All my OB advised was to be wary of small, school-aged children and that the disease was very rare in the US, but can be brought in from other countries. being pregnant, there is not much I could do. I was supposed to get the shot after I gave birth. I never did for some reason and I got pregnant again. I will make sure I get the booster shot this time.
