The Steak Loft is pretty good. It's near Olde Mystic Village.

OMG the Daniel Packer inn is amazing
Danielle and I and another couple went there last year and we got their house salad which is the most amazing salad I ever ate in my life, and Filet Mignon. It was like butter - Amazing
We stayed at the Steam boat in and with the package we got they gave away dinner for two to a choice of 3 restaurants and this was where we went.
The building is over 100 years old and the lighting is dim upstairs and they also had a fireplace right in front of where we sat - Totally worth the dining experience

Re: restaurant recommendations near north stonington ( mystic ) ct?
thanks for the glowing recommendation for the daniel packard inn - we booked then for the 13th !!!! just have to find a place for the 14th - anyone else been anywhere fantastic near mystic?
scott we actually looked at the steamboat inn but i heard alot of bad reviews for it- like noise from the drawbridge keeping people awake and one woman had the bed collapse on her then the maintenance man told her it happens all the time and she would have to wait till the morning for service - can you imagine? kinda turned me off from the place - and it looked so pretty on the website.
we are staying at the house of 1883 - the guy who runs uit seems like alot of fun. house of 1833 i'll let you know what we think of the place. The peach room looks really interesting

Are you sure thats the steam boat inn? I have only read good reviews of the place - you may be thinking of the whaler inn - it is located 1 small block from the draw bridge, the steam boat inn isnt really near the draw bridge.
I have read reviews about the whaler inn and I have read that you can hear the draw bridge sometimes, but tell you the honest truth, I think our experience at the steam boat inn was great. I would go back there in a heartbeat, and I hope we do next month.
The daniel packer inn is expensive, just so you know - its 100% worth it though.....And they require an 18% gratuity

Re: restaurant recommendations near north stonington ( mystic ) ct?
yeah unfortunatley it is definately steamboat inn - i saved the reviews with their info in my file - fm me if you want to read them- i wont post them they arent exactly flattering.
maybe i will go over there while in town and see if i can look around and if there really is so much noise off the dock. see if the folks staying there are happy. ( sorry it is the ex-travel agent in me love to check out places) maybe the 3 people who wrote with the travel review place just had bad luck - i think with so many places in the area - a couple of bad reviews could cost them alot of business if they dont try to address it.
we went for the reservation at floodtide - hopefully it will be nice even though noone seems to have heard of it. thanks scott for the recommendation at daniel packard - the website seems nice and they have a nice menu. i agree it looks a bit on the $$$ side but we're celebrating - one of my friend's just got egaged so i think we can splurge once.
18% is about right - i usually tip more than that - i sympathize with service workers and usually tip too much ( or so i have been told )
hope you have a great valentines ( that is why you are going back right ? ) thanks alot for all the info
