Spinoff to Flavor of Love...was anyone a Public Enemy fan back in the day?
I liked their songs but I wouldn't say I was a fan...it's funny how my parents have no idea what band he was in but my Dad is all up on the Flava gossip

Yes I loved Public Enemy ... my favorite album was it takes a nation of millions to hold us back ..... but I would call them a group more than a band

I was a complete fan. It worried my parents. I loved Fight the Power. I was always into Chuck D. Flav was all right.

why were your parents worried?
I think with anything progressive a few parents were freaked. I know that when Ozzy got bad press, they were all over the banning of Black Sabbath, etc. And when hip-hop hit the scene, they were like thinking the music would incite people to riot. Again, not because they actually listened to the music but more so what the extremists and the media were relaying that the message of rap was indicating (shooting cops, etc.). It took my parents a while to realize that music had come a long way from The Four Tops or The Isley Brothers My Mom was real thrilled when I came home with a WASP albumn and Blackie Lawless had a band saw between his legs
