whats the difference between
a spinal and an epidural..???
Ive been meaning to ask this question... Every time I talk about my c-section I say I got a spinal...and my mil ( ) says you had an epidural...
I was nervous and all...but I distinctly remember signing papers for a spinal...unless of course they are the same thing...
whats all the differences....Im just curious...I like information haha

Re: whats the difference between
a spinal is a one time shot in between the dics into the spinal fluid area which makes you numb but it eventually wears off
an epi is a shot in the spine with a tube connected to it that stays in your back where the medicine can be pushed into as needed.
Tell your MIL to read up on her terminology

Re: whats the difference between
not dangerous per say. Anything going near the spine is a risk but my doc said damage from a spinal is like trying to poke spaghetti in a pot of boiling water with a needle
the both go into your spine, i think the spinal goes in to the space between the discs where an epi doesnt but dont quote me on that.
