Re: Timeframe between offer being accepted...
I'm only at the very very beginning but we saw the place Sunday, bid and accepted Monday and my attorney had the contract inhand yesterday. We're holding off signing it until next week because I want to go back one more time to be absolutely certain. Our attorney said we should probably close early to mid-February.
ETA: this is a co-op so the closing process is usually a bit longer when dealing with board approval.

Re: Timeframe between offer being accepted...
put in an offer 3/4/05
offer was accepted within a day or two
contracts sent out and signed by us within a week
sellers signed approximately a week after that I *think* it was around 3/21
went to closing on 5/5

Re: Timeframe between offer being accepted...
We put our initial offer in on a Sunday and negotiated/agreed on a price on that Monday. The contract was in attorney review from Monday until Thursday, when the seller got another offer. We counter offered that day with our final and best and still had the house. We had the home inspection that Friday. We closed on the house 3 weeks from the day of the home inspection. So one month in total.

Re: Timeframe between offer being accepted...
yes new jersey. Home inspection in NJ occurs AFTER the parties agree on a selling price. Once the price is agreed, you have 10 days to notify the sellers that you are having the home inspected. Once the home is inspected and you receive the report you then need to negotiate if there are any problems. We only had 2 minor issues but I did get money from the seller for them.

Re: Timeframe between offer being accepted...
The process here (London) is way different. We saw the apartment on a Friday, but were away for the weekend. Made an offer on Monday it was accepted on the Tuesday. We've had to hire a lawyer and get our mortgage offer formalized and we haven't had to sing anything yet. Next step is exchanging contracts!! our lawyer has the draft contract now and we just need to go over it with them and have our structural survey completed. We hope to exchange within the next two weeks or so and close in between Christmas and New year. So, about two months from start to finish, but Crhistmas is in the middle!

after our offer was accepted, we were in contract 2 weeks later. We went from contracts to closing in one month.
