When you were younger and got in trouble at school...

Would you get in trouble at home too?

nope.

i only got in trouble a few times, and it was for the way a Re-acted to an authority figure, so my mom always backed me up. She used to tell us that as long as we were completely honest with her about what happened, she would be more understading.

BUT, if we lied to her or my dad.... oh lawdy, there was NO safe place to hide Chat Icon

I never told my parents I got in trouble at school, which was a mistake because it boiled out of control (the teacher failed me that trimester for being 5 minutes late for class) and the principle ended up calling my parents to discuss the failed grade and how I could fix it. They had no idea what was going on, they felt stupid and embarrassed and I will never live it down!

Yep - I was always punished at home! I think my JHS dean had my mom on speed dial.

I never really did anything that they found out about except talk in class . . . my oarents weren't happy. They were very strict with me when it came to my behavior towards my education . . .

The one time I got in trouble at school was when I cut class - and I was a senior. Over 80 kids also cut class on the same day to attend a party at someone's house where the parents weren't home. I just told my parents that next year I was going away to college and they had to learn to trust me.

My grades were excellent - so they really couldn't complain. Except maybe that one time we snuck out on the boat at 3am to go to a keg party on Bird island, but I digress...Chat Icon

Re: When you were younger and got in trouble at school...

Not really - I never really got in trouble. Once I got detention for walking into homeroom as the beel rang and the teacher was having a crappy day I guess and she gave four of us detention. I thought my mother was ready to ring her neck because she was going to have to drive from work (in the opposite direction from house than school was by 20 minutes). She said "I can't WAIT for parent-teacher night. That'll teach her to take her crappy day out on you"

sometimes. most of the time i never told my parents for fear of being punished. the only times i would tell is if i knew the school was going to call.

things have changed SO much. back in the day we respected and were intimidated by our elders. we knew that if we misbehaved they would most likely believe the adult and not us. these days it seems like many parents view their children as saints and poor little victims and we (the adults) are the culprits.

I never really got in trouble except for talking. And I usually got a lecture, but nothing else. I guess my mom figured if talking was it, it wasn't too bad.

The only time i really got in trouble was the F I got in math in 11th grade. But they were expecting it. I never worked so hard the next quarter though - had her breathing down my back the whole time. Chat Icon

Re: When you were younger and got in trouble at school...

I used to get kicked out of math all the time for "insobordination" and the deans and my parents thought it was funny- the teacher was this cranky old man. Once I got caught with a bottle of wine in my locker and had three days of in school suspention. My parents didn't care because I had been given the bottle by a senior and it wasn't even opened.

I agree with that...nowadays kids won't get in trouble with their parents too....in fact a lot of parents get their kids out of trouble.

So not the case in my house!
