When looking at houses
did/do you have a way of keeping track of each one? We just started and I can see how hard it will be to try and remember each one. Do realtors allow you to take pictures? I saw an episode on house hunters once where they had a checklist of things they wanted in a house- has anyone done something like this?

Re: When looking at houses
I kept every listing sheet - whether it was one I printed or my REA gave us or the house REA provided it. On the back we wrote notes - pros & cons...and on the front next to the selling points we made + or - signs to indicate whether it really was a selling point or not.
I also added any price changes and what the house was purchased for (if available) by the current owner.
It helped a TON.

Re: When looking at houses
I wish i was as organized as Colleen!!! I went strictly by memory but we only looked at about 20 or so houses and i can remember almost all of them distinctly.

Re: When looking at houses
We made code names for the houses we liked. But the ones we didnt like, there wasnt a point of taking notes or bothering to remember them.

Re: When looking at houses
We just started keeping a binder with all of the listing sheets. We keep blank pages in there as well to keep notes about each house and we also use codenames as well. Yesterday, we saw a house which we promptly named "Texas Chainsaw House" because it was so scary!

Re: When looking at houses
We had a list and I kept every MLS listing/print-out in a binder. My RE agent (who's also my sister) made binders for us. It helped a LOT. The list was the most important thing.

Re: When looking at houses
We kept the printouts the realtors gave us when we saw listings and Id take notes on there. I also always carried a legal pad w/ me and this way if a realtor called me (which was often)on the phone I could take notes about the house and Id write a small description to remind me which house they were referring to because after awhile Dh and I forgot which house was where and had what!
