Another Godparents question...
Do I have to choose Godparents? Dh and I are so non-traditional in what we believe. We were raised Catholic and Protestant but don't feel our child necessarily needs to follow suit. I'm not even sure if we'll have a baptism, it would only be for family tradition purposes if we did, which seems silly to me...then again we were both baptized so maybe the baby should be. I'm not sure how to figure all this out. Also, are the Godparents typically the people who would have legal guardianship if we died? TIA for any help if anyone is in a similar situation.

Re: Another Godparents question...
we are having godparents, but they would not get my child if, god forbid, something happened to me and DH.. I do not take it that seriously, I do it bc my daughter will be raised catholic and we will have her christened...but if something did happen, the baby would go to my parents or my sisters...not dh cousin who will be the godfather....
the godparents will be my sister and dh's cousin...i have no problem at all with my sister, but this baby will never live with dh cousin over my family!

Re: Another Godparents question...
I dont know about legal guardianship, but DH and I are preparing a Will which will state who the legal guardian(s) will be.
As for Godparents, DH and I were both raised in religions we really dont follow. I feel like a hypocrite right now thinking about baptising my daughter in the catholic church because I dont follow that religion.
I dont believe a baby will go to hell if God forbid anything happen to her and she wasnt baptised.
