Pack n Play question .. BTDT moms...

Emily is constantly on the move! We leave the room and find her allllll the way across the room.

My husband gets her ready in the AM since I leave for work early and he's getting worried that she is going to get into something. My solution is to babyproof EVERYTHING and use some gates -- he thinks we should get a pack n play to put her in so that he can get ready in the morning.

I just feel like she'll be too contained that way. I want her to be free to move around.

For the moms of babies who crawl -- do they hate the pack n play? His biggest concern is his 6 bass guitars and all of the effects because the effect board is on the floor. It is a small apartent and there is nowhere else to put it. I just want her to be able to move around as much as possible.

We didn't use the pack and play for months but we do now. Especially that because she is cruising and standing up. If we have to go to the bathroom or get dressed she goes in there with some toys and we will put on Jack's Big Music Show- We have it on TIVO well about 10 or 12 of them and we will do what we have to do. She doesn't mind it in there now.

I might not be of any help, because I never used the pack and play to contain Andrew. We used it early on as the bassinet in the living room for naps and diaper changes and then after that, we just used it for him to nap when we were at someone house or were traveling.

I went the gate route. Andrew loved to explore, and a baby-proofed area that is gated off was perfect for him.

I've put mine away. I really don't have plans of putting her in it to play but then agian she's not quite on the move yet. I'd go with babyproofing since you're going to have to do it eventually.

This is what we did also. We got a long gate system that cuts off part of our family room so she can't get at the stereo, tv or computer. The rest of the room is baby proofed so she can cruise around on her own.

IMO, the PnP is a Godsend when you need 10-15 minutes to shower/get dressed, whatever! Chat Icon My DS sits and plays and I know he's "safe". Most of the time we use it for "toy storage", but I love to be able to toss him in there when needed. Chat Icon

We are gate users too; if there is a time I need to shower or need DS contained...in his crib he goes. I ended up returning my PNP

Joseph LOVES the pac-n-play. Loves it. I stick all his toys in there and position it so he can see Noggin. He'll sit in there for close to 1/2 hr. And he's a fidgeter!

At what age do kids start using pack n plays? We got one off our registry and Im think of returning it for something more useful now. Our baby was just born last week so I dont see him using it anytime soon.

You can get a playyard for One Step Ahead if you want her to be able to move around more. Use it inside or outside. This is where garage sales come in really handy.

I used to put Andrew in the pack n play in order to shower. He wouldn't really be content in there for too long, especially after he was crawling and cruising. So when he totally started freaking out I stopped using it.

Now we only use it as a travel crib.

We have that gate too. We use it outside at times, and I also take apart the gates and use them sround the house.

We never use ours, only when we go on vacation.

I used the bassinet part for naps when he was a newborn and I used the changing table part right away also. I would keep it - ours came in handy!

Re: Pack n Play question .. BTDT moms...

we're a big fan of the pack and play too. I try not to put him in it in front of the TV for more than 15-20 minutes, but that helps a lot when I have to get ready for work and DH isnt home yet.
I did find that it was good to encourage quiet time/independant play. He'll sit in it and look through a book or play with a toy that he'd otherwise lose interest in quickly.

We love the pack-n-play. It is peace of mind when I need to put her somewhere safe to do something. She has always used it so she doesn't mind at all. My DD's playroom is gated and baby-proofed, but the pack-n-play can go in any room and even outside or to a friend's house for sleeping.( She probably lasts 1/2 hour in it at a time if she's playing)

We use our pack n play all the time. He has a lot of little toys in it, and loves to throw them out so mommy can pick them up Chat Icon It's fun for him. He also likes to cruise around the inside and jump up and down while holding on to the rail. I usually put him in there when I need to get a bottle ready or wash dishes, but still want to keep an eye on him.

Re: Pack n Play question .. BTDT moms...

Angela loved her pack and play, I think sometimes they like having their own little place to lie or sit and relax and watch tv or have a bottle. Even though the house was totally babyproofed, obviously I couldn't shower or anything with her crawling around the house, so she would go in the pack and play while I took a shower or threw in some laundry.
