Has anyone been to or hosted a Couples Baby Shower?

Ours is going to be a couples shower and we're looking for ideas on favors, activities, etc. Our families are giving the shower, but I'm kinda involved. Any advice would be much appreciated! TIA.

My couples shower is in probably 2 weeks. I don't know the exact date but I know its going to happen very soon. lol or else the baby will be here before the shower.

I know they are doing an afternoon gathering. Between lunch and dinner time. It's going to be outside so if its hot the pool is available along with staying cool under a tent.

They were going to BBQ, but they changed their mind and are doing italian trays.

I don't know what else is going to be going on...if you can wait 2 weeks or so I can get back to you!!!

Thanks! Mine is August 26, so anything you can tell me after yours would be great. Ours is going to be in the evening on a Saturday (we figured it would be easier for people with kids to get babysitters - we hope. It would be too many people if we invited ALL the kids.)

Have fun!

I had a couples shower

it was a Saturday evening cocktail party type set-up. We didn't have organized activites or games - just a party.

that sounds like a shower I would not dread going to!! I hate leaving DH behind on my day off.

Lisa did you open the gifts like you would at a normal shower?

I don't want to since the men won't be interested.

That's probably what we're going to do. I think we may have our wedding video playing too so our bridal party can see. We won't do a showing, just have it playing inside if anyone is interested.

Yours sounds really nice.

I wasn't planning on it, but towards the end of the party I did start opening gifts. Most people continued partying or were already leaving, but I obliged those who wanted to watch me open their gift.

It wasn't like at bridal my shower were the whole party came to a stop to gather round and watch the presents be opened - I wanted to avoid that.

And it was a great time! Definitely not your traditional baby shower...in fact, at times, I forgot I was at a baby shower!

Re: Has anyone been to or hosted a Couples Baby Shower?

I helped host a jack and jill luncheon shower for my sister and BIL...it was held outside in our backyard.

There was a play area set up for the kids on one end of the tent and tables set up under the tent as well as a chair and gift area.

We BBQ'd and had some trays of food prepared as well as a hero tray...there was a separate drink tent (keg, wine, soda, juice boxes and a punch).

They did open up the gifts together and I set a timer and gave out a "prize" (bottles of wine or the centerpiece potted flower arrangements) every 7 minutes to the person who gave the gift they were opening at the time...

Favors were choc. chip cookies wrapped and placed in little boxes that matched the invites and little bucket and shovel sets stuffed with bubbles, a beach ball, and glow sticks for the kiddies, or a rubber duckie if they were too young for all that.
