Is this a bad idea?
DH and I are going to tell his family tomorrow that I'm pregnant. Now, I had posted last night that I was "afraid" of his sister's reaction b/c of her M/C almost 4 years ago that she is still bitter about (which I understand, but it's really unhealthy).
My thing is we're all going out to dinner, and I initially didn't want to just announce it in front of everyone (for his sister's sake), but doesn't seem there is any other way around it.
Is it a bad idea to "announce" it at dinner? The attendees will be DH's mom, gramma, sister, brother and SIL. Maybe DH's dad too.
TIA!!!!

Re: Is this a bad idea?
If she is going to be bitter about it your I would just announce it at dinner and let everyone else be happy for you and ignore any looks or comments. You can't live your life tiptoeing around people who will just bring you down because of their circumstances, no matter how sucky they are.
Congrats and good luck

Re: Is this a bad idea?
I agree with KP. You are going to tell all of those people anyway why hide it and tell them all in private. Yes, I understand your SIL's feelings but she should not voice her negative feelings to anyone who is pregnant especially to someone in her own family. I think you can announce your news at dinner and still be respectful to her feelings. I think you are being so thoughtful to care so much about her feelings. She's lucky to have a sil who cares so much about her. Just remember if she does make any negative comments or remarks, don't take anything personally. It's not you, it's her problem. Good Luck!!!

Not pregnant, but I just wanted to say that if she will feel bitter, it will be felt by her whether you tell a group or word gets to her. It's something for HER to deal with eventually at some point in her life.
Congrats!

Re: Is this a bad idea?
You can't worry about her reaction- my SIL found out she was pregnant the day I found out our pregnancy wasn't viable. It was horrible for me but I refused to dampen my SIL joy over her event and still listened as she talked about her fears. Sometimes we have to be bigger people for the people we love and I hope she feels the same way.

Congrats!
I agree that you should not tip toe around her situation. Although it is unfortunate, she should not take that out on you.
Good Luck

I think you should announce it at the dinner, her situation is very unfortunate, but I am sure she will be happy and give you her blessing.
