Stop & Shop - a little off topic
Is the Stop & Shop supermarket in your area being renovated?
Does anyone know what they are planning to do?

The Stop & Shop in my area is being renovated. So far all I know is they are adding a Starbucks.

The ones by us are very new. They were both built in the last two to three years. I don't think so.

some of the older Stop & shop are all being renovated to look like the news ones, they will be fitted with boston markets, staples centers and now starbucks.
If it hasnt opened within the last year, most of them will be remodeled within the next year

I heard that the one is West Islip is being expanded. I'm not sure exactly but it was in a strip mall and most of the stores have been closed down. I heard they are expanding and putting in misc services. Not exactly sure when this is going to happen.

the one on Union Blvd? that's the one I go to! Most of the stores right next to it are still open - there is a liquor store and a card/gift store.
There is already a Staples section in there, but a Starbucks would ROCK!!

Yea but the card shop is suppose to be moving to where True Value Hardware was. I don't know about the liquor store. That is why I heard A&W closed down.

I heard that the new/old Saturn Dealership on 112 is being converted into a S&S...
I know the one in Merrick is taking over where Escapes used to be (I have a friend who is a contractor on the project) and the place is going to be HUUUGGGE with all sorts of amenities.

The rumor is that the S&S near me is being changed into a Pathmark. DK if its true or not since its only what I've heard from other people while waiting on their super-long-never-enough-cashiers checkout lines.

This is driving me crazy to the point I'm ready to stop going there - and they said it won't be completely done until NOVEMBER!  They've moved things to different aisles, the lighting is terrible (hopefully they will improve that) they are completely re-doing the deli and produce area so they have a huge section closed off and what remains is a mess. They used to have the self-serve fresh mozzerella and olives, and now it's in the deli case and the mozz. looks like it hasn't been touched in days - dry and crusty. And some items I like have been discontinued as well, so between that, or just plain not being able to find out what aisle they are hiding it in... I hate it!

that would be super-cool if it was true, but there are like 10 stores between S&S and where A&W used to be - including my all-time favorite dry cleaner!!
I wonder if the town website would have anything about it?
Damn, part of me wants a Starbucks that close, and part of me loves that drycleaner (it took me forever to find a good one)!
