Interview Follow-Up Question - Updated with sample thank you letter for help in proofing!

I just finished a phone interview with a company and she said she will call me back later this week to schedule to meet next week with her boss for a second interview.

My question is, I usually follow up an interview with a thank you letter. I do not have her e-mail address or regular address. All correspondence has been via the phone (I applied through a website that didn't give an e-mail address, I just hit an "apply now" button). How do I send her a thank you?

I really want this job so it is important to me that I do the right thing. Thanks.

Re: Interview Follow-Up Question

Call the company & ask for her email address.

eta. I would be impressed if a candidate found out my email without asking me.

Re: Interview Follow-Up Question

Can you call the number and get reception instead of the interviewer directly? If so, ask reception for the address or email address.

Re: Interview Follow-Up Question

I would google the name of the company name & see what comes up. If it gives you the correct company name & info then you can take the address from there. But if she has not given you the direct address of her direct number I don't know if she will wonder how you got her info. Chat Icon

This is what I worry about. I called the main line and asked for her e-mail address and got it. Will she think it is weird that I got it since she never gave it to me? Will she consider me a stalker?

ETA: Should I call her and thank her on her voicemail since that is how we have communicated thus far?

No I think you should email her. It shows ingenuity on your part for getting it. If you emailed her at home, that's stalker.

eta. do you guys realize that I've googled people I'm interviewing to see what comes up. Just wanted to make sure you realized that potential employers may do that - esp those with my space pages.

Ok, thanks. Should I mention to her how I got the e-mail address?

Re: Interview Follow-Up Question

Please proof my thank you e-mail for me. I want it to be perfect as this is the perfect job for me!

Thank you!!!

Dear Beth,

I wanted to thank you for the time you took to interview me for the Human Resources Coordinator position today so I called the main line to your office and asked for your e-mail address. I hope you don't mind.

After reflecting on our interview, I am convinced that I have the skills, knowledge and personality you're looking for. I am a hard worker who has a strong ability to multi-task and work independently or as a team. During our conversation I realized that we both recognize the rewards of being in Human Resources and could use this as a great tool to help the company in many ways. I know that I would enjoy assisting the Carolina and Tennessee region with any and all human resource requirements.

Beth, I really enjoyed our conversation and I believe I am a great fit for this position. I am looking forward to meeting with the Director of Human Resources next week and hope that I can meet you as well if the scheduling allows.

Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity to interview for this position. I promise you I won't let you down if you give me the chance to show what I can do. I eagerly await the next step in the process.

Sincerely,
Suzanne (I will obviously add my last name and contact info here as well in the e-mail)

Since you are talking in plural, I'd add a (s) to region.
I also find it a bit repetitive when you are thanking her.
I also would not let her know how you find her email address.
I think that sometimes keeping shorter is better.
Best of Luck and keep us posted !!!

That happened to me! I have my own website that hubby bought for me for my bday a few years ago. I post a bunch of pictures on it so his family in Isreal can follow what we're doing... I found out after my interview with my current job that they googled me and found my website, and to this day, they make fun of me for some of my pics!

I think Jackie's edits are good. In the original one you sounded too eager for the job (I know you are but they don't need to know that). Also no need to discuss how you got your email. You're resourceful, leave it at that.
