Clear to Close
How long does it normally take to get the clearance for closing? Everything has been sent to the bank's atty and I was told 2 weeks ago it'd be "any day now" but we're still waiting.
Is this normal?

Re: Clear to Close
Sometimes the bank attorney's office can sit on a file for a long time. The bank attorney held up our closing for a week until both my attorney and the sellers attorney got on their case. Bank attorney's are notorious for setting up closings when it is convenient for THEM.
We had our title, mortgage and everything else done and the bank attorney would not give us a date until the week before the closing. I made sure everything was done because I work for a title company. The bank attorney actually told my lawyer that they were "waiting for title". My lawyer told them that is BS because the purchaser works for a title company and we have documentation that the fed-ex was singed for an delivered on ___ date. The bank attorney gave my lawyer a closing date the next day.
Hang in there and feel free to FM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info! I can't believe you're responding to these posts while you're waiting to have your baby!! (but I'm glad you are
I *just* got the call from the mortgage company that we're clear so yay!
I really really hope the bank's atty doesn't sit on this.

Re: Clear to Close
I know. I am bored out of my mind. I want this kid out already! I am not the type to just sit around and wait (I did enough of that the last two days) so I am glad I am online & posting. Besides, what else can I do? The house is clean, laundry is done, and we just ate take out Chinese.
DH is putting the ceiling fan in the baby's room and I stay far away when he is takes on a "project" until the "project" is done. I think I will hang here until I feel I want to take a nap, my water breaks, or I feel intense contractions.
I hope that the bank atty does not sit on it as well. If they do, just tell your lawyer.
