Painting my son's room...

We've decided to go ahead and get the used race car bed. I would really like to paint his room soon also. I'm the one with all the ugly brown molding and brown doors.

Would you paint it a color or just with the white trim and eggshell walls?

Thanks!

I would paint it a color. We don't have any white walls in our house.

I don't know what color though? The race car bed we're getting is a blue color. I wanted to get dark blue curtains to help darken the room for naptime. He only has blinds now. Any ideas?

Why not bring Caiden to Home Depot and let him pick out a color from paint swatches? I think I know what the bed will look like and I think any primary color would look awesoem. I bet he'd love to be a part of "remodeling" his room...you could even bring home 10 swatches or so and have him pick from that.

Oh and what about adding a "race car" border or some decals!! Or you can get him one of those rugs that looks like a race track -- i've seen them for only like $20 in walmart and stuff.

Is the car dark blue too? Christopher's curtains are dark blue (navy) and his walls are a light blue. It goes very nicely.

Re: Painting my son's room...

Thanks everyone for your ideas!

I wasn't sure actually about a race car theme? My son likes cars, but he's not that into them to do his room like that. What I was thinking of doing was taking down his Cat in the Hat stuff and replacing it with a little of everything else he likes. I don't want to spend too much because the things he likes right now could change at any time. I wanted to get some stuff that had Shrek, Monsters Inc., Nemo, Toy Story, Blues Clues, Elmo, etc. These are things he's been into for a while now. Do you think it would look like too much with all the different things in it? Thanks again everyone! Chat Icon

I think it would be cute to include all those different things. Then his room is totally unique to him (and easy to change the accessories as he gets older) Light blue walls would be really nice with the dark blue car & curtains. Although I bet he'd love to help you pick out the new color. Have fun!

Re: Painting my son's room...

I think you could definately include ALL of those things into his room! Make his room whatever he will love! I aggree that a light blue paint would look great with the dark blue bed. You can get all kinds of accessories/decals/whatever to go along with his favorite things.

I bet you could probably work them all into a transportation theme too if you wanted too --- airplanes with his characters on them, trains, etc....but of course who has the time! I know I always have these ideas but never the time to get them done!

Definately show us the finished room! He will love it, I'm sure!
