Still numb after oral surgery??? UPDATED 7/11

I had oral surgery yesterday morning and my bottom lip and part of my chin are still numb. I think my Dr. gave me nerve damage. I'm freaking out right now. Has this happened to anyone before?

*UPDATE*
So I spoke with my doctor and I am going back to the office tomorrow. I had dental imp-lants put in and apparently one is too close to the nerve running along my jawChat Icon I BETTER BE GETTING A REFUND!Chat Icon

I had oral surgery about 6 years ago. BUt I vaguely remember this happening. Dont freak out yet. I would call your MD and see what they say.

Re: Still numb after oral surgery???

I was still numb for a day and a half after having all of my wisdom teeth pulled.

Have you called the doctor to see if this could be normal? Or maybe try calling your PCP if you are worried that the oral surgeon may not be up front with you

Re: Still numb after oral surgery???

I used to work for an oral surgeon. Many patients had this, especially after a wisdom teeth. I would call him and let them know. But don't too freaked out ( I know easier said than done), it sometimes takes a few days to get the feeling back.

Re: Still numb after oral surgery???

I had oral surgery performed last Friday. Anesthesia NEVER works on me (I was poked 11 times with the epidural for my first DS' delivery. It didn't work. Was poked 3 times with 2nd DS' delivery. Worked only for 5 minutes). Needless to say, the oral surgery's anesthesia DID work...TOO WELL! I was numb for the entire day (which is saying a lot for me). Give it some more time to wear off. If not, call your doctor.

(and thank goodness cause after that i was in pain) my whole bottom lip and jaw blew up so bad but after a week it went down i could not really talk that much because of the stitches it hurt to much. but some people take it different.
