I have friends that live in Florida and they send their kids to public schools. Florida has some pretty schools depending on the area. MSN just had an article last week about the top 100 schools in the country and Florida had 7 schools in the top 100 and New York only had 2.

Yes, Navarre Beach Florida. We are in the panhandle

He is too young for school now but most likely will attend the public schools here. We live in Santa Rosa/Okalossa which has one of the best districts in Florida!School Search for our Area with ratings

ok- I feel better now- we thought the flrodia had lower property taxes then NY- so we would balance out private school
but 2% of the purchase price can add up quickly- b/c we weren't looking to spend less- just get more for our money
we are thinking about the Palm beach area
now I just have to figure out what I can do for a living there- Jake would grow to hate me if I didn't work and laid in the sun all day

My sister lives in Boynton Beach. She likes. And the kids goto public school, She did LOTS of research before moving.

We have a house in West Palm Beach that we (my fam,my sister and fam,my parents) all use as a vacation home. We absolutely love it there. I've still got a tad of a faded tan from last month there.We were also shocked at how things quicly add up- moneywise. Especially if you are in a gated community.
All my cousins that live there send their kids to private school,I've been told it costs 6 grand a year. The kids seem well rounded,knowledgable and articulate.
On the other hand,my BIL lives in Fort Lauderdale (Hollywood) and our children are the same age,3rd grade. I know what the cirriculum(sp?) should be because I can compare with my sons work here in NY. Its a sad-sad difference.  He goes to public school and I swear,the standards are at least a full year behind.

$6K a year is ok with me
my brother coached lacrosse at a school in west palm that cost $20K a year 
we are just starting our reserach-so this all helps alot
