Children with allergies?

Does anyone children/toddler have allergies? What where their symptoms and what did the doctor do for them? I think my three year old has them, clear running nose with cough at night, no fever started back in October? Any advice would be great! Thanks

Re: Children with allergies?

I've had allergies since I was about that age. At that age I was given dimetapp elixr practically every day and it continued until I graduated to adult antihistamines. That's what the doctor told my mom. Have you spoken to your pediatrician. I think they have children's claritin now!

Re: Children with allergies?

My son had the same thin.. try the wal mart brand childrens allergy ellixir.. Alex gets a teaspoon to a teaspoon and a half depending on how runny or post nasal he is cause he's right on the border (weight wise).. Its great. I tried that on him, and then the Dr. realized it was indeed allergies and prescribed Zyrtec for him.. He ONLY takes it during the change of seasons, or when he was likely to have an allergic reaction, (being around smoke or pets or dust..etc) Good LUCK and HTH!!

Re: Children with allergies?

I have had allergies forever. From kindergarden to 2nd grade, I constantly complained of ear aches. My mother would get me from school, take me to the doctor to be told nothing is wrong. Then we finally went for testing and it came up positive to almost everything. I was on the injections for years.

Re: Children with allergies?

i would give Claritin syrup, its over the counter now. If there is a lot of congestion, or a post nasal drip and its wrose at night, i would try a nasal spray.

Re: Children with allergies?

My daughter has a few allergies. We got alarmed when me or DH ate something she was allergic to and gave her a little kiss on her cheek and she broke out in hives. We now have an appt with an allergist to see what other things she is allergic to and what we can do for her.

Re: Children with allergies?

My daughter is allergic to penicillin and we didn't know she was allergic to it until she had a really bad allergic reaction and we had to take her to the hospital. They realized it was the penicillin she was allergic to.
