a friend of mine bought her home in west babylon 4 years ago for about 180K, and a year ago it appraised for over 400K. so im going to say within the 2000-2003 range.

my aunt bought her house in smithtown...in 2000 for 262K...today...goes easily for 500k

we bought in June 2000 and all was still affordable... but soon after the prices starting soaring

July 2000 we bought our house for $160,000...today probably around $515,000...

I'd say right at the end of 2002 beginning of 2003.
DH and I definitely got our house just before the insane boom. We bought in Feb 2003

I totally know how you feel. Though I was in my late twenties when the boom hit, I so was not ready for a house. Now I am. It will get better for us; maybe we will win the lottery or something.
