DR during hurricane season?
We want to go to Punta Cana DR for our big vacation this year, but it looks like we can only travel the first week in Sept (Labor Day)
Has anyone planned a Caribbean vacation during hurricane season, is it worth the risk? I am so unsure what to do!

Re: DR during hurricane season?
I personally would not risk it, I would try to find another place that is hurricane free... maybe Aruba, it is below the hurricane belt...

Re: DR during hurricane season?
We went Labor Day week a couple of years ago and had great weather. My only suggestions is that if you do book somethng during hurricane season to definitely purchase travel insurace. And unless there's an actual hurricane brewing, don't let the weather reports freak you out. Most of the islands will predict rain every day and you usually won't see a drop during the day. If it rains at all, it's usually at night and it's always pretty fast moving. We have also been to Jamaica and Mexico during hurricane season and have always been lucky. We've run into a couple of overcast days and some passing showers, but that's the extent of it.
