What would you do? Re weight and ttc

I need to lose about 30 lbs. I've been having such a hard time of it- in the past, I was able to lose fairly easily and quickly, but there are so many factors working against me this time, it seems (work, commuting, etc.) Chat Icon

I just turned 34 and we've been ttc for a few months. But I am wondering if we should put it on hold. I just worry that I'll be setting myself up for a lot of difficulty that would be avoided if I were thinner. But that number 35 is also looming over my head.

Opinions?

You should probably do both at the same time. Make an effort to start eating better and excercising now. If you are excersising regularly before you get pregnant, you should be able to continue during your pregnancy, which will be good for your health, as well as make delivery easier (or so I've read- I don't think delivery is ever easy)

I completely agree. I would not put ttc on hold...unless you weren't ovulating due to your weight. Some women need to lose weight first in order to ovulate. Losing sometimes just 10 lbs when ttc makes a ton of difference. So perhaps if you just lower the goal weight...that may make losing the weight easier.

I agree about doing both at the same time.

I am currently on WW (Core plan) and I am actually eating MORE than I was before and it's all the good stuff (veg, fruit, lean meat, dairy, the occasional potato/bread) and none of the "bad" stuff (ice cream, bread, bread, bread, more bread).

I was the same way - I needed to lose weight and I could not do it. I also had about 30lbs to lose. A pound would come off here and there, but it would come right back. I decided, that we were going to try anyway. And I got pregnant and I really am not having any problems, my doctor does not think my weight is a problem, not even the weight I am gaining during my pregnancy.
