Bassinet Question - Does your rock back and forth?

Hi Ladies, yesterday we bought our bassinet - its simple and not too bulky - and i love it - until i starting thinking about it not rocking back and forth.

Does your bassinet rock back and forth - do you think the rocking motion is a must have and will put your baby to sleep faster?

Its not a necessity. The one I used with my son didnt. I think the main idea for the bassinet is to keep the baby is small quarter like the past nine months. The one I have for this baby does vibrate and play nmusic but itis my friends and I liked it otherwise I would use the other one again

Every baby is different, so you'll never know in advance what will work. I don't think that rocking motion in a bassinet is a must have.

I used the pack n play's bassinet for the first 10 weeks, which didn't rock. It did vibrate, which I used a bit although I'm not sure that it helped.

Mine does rock, but my son wont sleep in it. he hates it. Hes been in his car seat for the past 3 weeks now !

We decided against a craddle type bassinet because with the cat I was worried that she would try to peak in and it would end up moving, and the baby would wake up.
Molly never liked vibrating items, and our bassinet did vibrate if you turned on the feature. but she LOVED the little mobile.

Thanks so much for your responses! I guess its going to be a guessing game - i won't know until he/she is here. I would hate for it to go to waste - its so cute - so we'll have to wait and see.
